Turkmen parliamentarians discussed legal mechanisms of analysis of legislation during a visit to Denmark, organized by the OSCE
On October 3, 2015, concluded training and familiarization visit to Denmark, organized by the OSCE for Turkmen parliamentarians with the aim to facilitate the exchange of legislative practice
During the visit, which was organized in close co-operation with the Parliament of Denmark, members of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and an officer from the National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan acquainted with the practical aspects of legislative drafting in Denmark, its substance and concrete procedures, as well as the contemporary techniques of analyzing legislation on an article-by-article basis.
«The OSCE Centre in Ashkhabad welcomes the efforts of Government of Turkmenistan aimed to conduct large-scale legal reforms in the country and bring the national legislation in line with the universally recognized standards of international law, - said Vardon Deniz Hoca, Human Dimension Officer at the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat. The study visit organized within the framework of the continuation of the Centre's activities in assisting in the legal reforms in Turkmenistan, and we hope that it will be particularly important now, when the government plans constitutional reforms».
During the visit, the delegation members visited the Parliament of Denmark where they discussed relevant national legislation and legal review practices with their colleagues. Also they had a meeting with lawyers assisting in the process of preparation of legislation during of which they exchanged views on issues of legislative practices.
The Turkmen delegation visited the University of Copenhagen, the Centre of World Cultures and the International Secretariat of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, where they exchanged glances on inter-parliamentary co-operation with the OSCE PA. On a visit to Malmo, Sweden, the delegation from Turkmenistan met with the mayor of the city and discussed the legislative process at the municipal level.
