On the morning of August 29, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left for a working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.
A few hours later the President's plane landed at the Berlin International «Tegel» Airport decorated with the national flags of Turkmenistan and Germany. At the airport, the President of Turkmenistan had been received by the officials of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Then Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proceeded to the building of the Administration of the Federal Chancellor of Germany. Here, at the main entrance, the honorary Turkmen guest was cordially greeted by the Federal Chancellor of Germany Mrs. Angela Merkel.
After exchanging mutual greetings, the President of Turkmenistan and head of the German Federal Government introduced to each other members of the official delegations of their respective countries.
Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel proceeded to the venue of the bilateral meeting, which was held in a business lunch format.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel reaffirmed the mutual interest of the parties to bring traditional partnership to a new, corresponding to modern realities, level. In this context the Turkmen leader and the head of the Federal Government of Germany discussed the key areas of Turkmen-German cooperation built for the long term. The sides also exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Then a joint press conference of the President of Turkmenistan and the Federal Chancellor of Germany was held.
In her address to the media the head of the Federal Government of Germany stressed the interest of Germany and the European Union in the further intensive development of partnership with Turkmenistan that plays an important role in the Central Asian region. Federal Chancellor of Germany also reported that during the meeting they touched upon the democratic processes in the Turkmen society, which are characterized by positive trends. Illustrative examples here are the action program in the field of human rights and the plans for the appointment of the Ombudsman for Human Rights.
Speaking to the media, the President noted the constructive nature of the talks with the Federal Chancellor of Germany, during which it was stressed that relations between the two countries are developing dynamically today on a wide range of areas. Speaking to media representatives, the Turkmen leader also said that he had invited the Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time for her. In conclusion Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the head of the German Federal Government, all members of the delegation of friendly country expressing sincere appreciation for the constructive work.

On the same day within the framework of his working visit to Germany, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a number of bilateral meetings, including with the State Parliamentary Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany Uwe Bekmayer; Vice-president of the company «Siemens AG», president of the company for Russia Dietrich Moeller and Executive Director for Energy and Gas Company «Siemens AG» Willi Meixner; member of the Board of Governors of «Deutsche Bank AG», Chief Financial Officer Marcus Schenck, Executive Director of «Deutsche Bank AG» the countries of Central and Eastern Europe Peter Tilles and senior advisor to the bank Jurgen Fitchen; President of «SAP» for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe Stefan Hohbauer; President and CEO of «Cifal Group» Gilles Remy and the founder of an international engineering company «ILF Consulting Engineers» Adolf Faytslmayer, vice-president of «Airbus Group» company on Foreign Relations Marwan Lauda; Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the company «Cargolux» Maxim Strauss.
The meetings had led to an interesting discussion of prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation, held at the residence of the Turkmen leader, which is located in the upscale hotel «Adlon Kempinski», located in the historical center of Berlin and is one of the most prestigious hotel complexes in Europe and the world.
It should be noted that on the same day on behalf of the head of state, members of the governmental delegation of Turkmenistan held in Berlin bilateral meetings with the heads of relevant ministries and the German authorities, the largest banking institutions and companies, including «Deutsche Bank», «Commerzbank», «Claas», «Zeppelin», «Bosch Gruppe», «Umax Trade GmbH», «Siemens AG», «Hospitalia International GmbH» and others. Talks were also held with representatives of such famous foreign companies as «John Deere», «Airbus Group». In addition, bilateral meetings with the heads and representatives of a number of leading institutions of higher education and the sphere of culture had been organized.
It is noteworthy that some of these bilateral meetings on the impact of which indicates a solid package of bilateral documents, to increase the potential of mutually beneficial partnership, held in the framework of the Turkmen-German business forum, held in the evening in the Berlin hotel «Maritim» with the participation of members of the official delegations of Turkmenistan and representatives of the state, financial and banking structures and business circles of Germany.
