On March 16, 2017, the Implementation Group held its meeting at the Energy Charter Secretariat which was chaired by the Vice Chair Ms. Klara Rakhmetova (Kazakhstan). The aim of the meeting was to identify particular issues and problems related to energy transit within the Energy Charter constituency.
The delegations of Turkmenistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Georgia and Kazakhstan presented their views on the challenges of oil, natural gas and electricity transit in their respective countries and regions. The presentations were followed by substantial discussions on the scope of the proposed transit instrument. The Secretariat, supported by secondees from different parts of the constituency will prepare an intermediary clarification document, to be further discussed at the meeting of the Implementation Group on 7 September 2017.
