On September 11, 2024, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi, grand opening ceremony of the Magtymguly Fragi Auditorium was held at Sokhumi State University (Tbilisi). The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia with the assistance of the administration of the University.
The grand opening was attended by members of the Turkmen delegation, as well as the faculty and students of the university.
Addressing the audience, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Georgia D.Seyitmammedov noted that the cultural and humanitarian sphere is an integral component of the modern Turkmen-Georgian interstate dialog.
Representatives of the Turkmen delegation emphasized that the works of the wise Fragi calling for humanism, purity, and unity are an invaluable asset for all humanity. The poet’s poems, translated into dozens of languages, find a response in the hearts of millions of readers around the world.
Rector of Sokhumi State University Z.Khonelidze expressed confidence that the opening of the Magtymguly Auditorium will contribute to a wider familiarization of the Georgian public with the work of Magtymguly Fragi, with the history, culture, traditions of the Turkmen people, as well as the strengthening of fruitful humanitarian dialogue, relations of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
At the end of the event, Turkmen artists performed Turkmen folk music.
