On 6 November 2024, the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navo hosted a cultural event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, a great thinker of the East and a classic of Turkmen literature.
The event was organized within the framework of implementation of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On wide celebration of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi”.
The event was attended by prominent political and public figures of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, the mass media, the Turkmen diaspora and Turkmen students studying at the universities of Uzbekistan.
Speakers at the event emphasized that the humanistic principles embedded in the works of Magtymguly are of great importance for the rapprochement of countries and peoples. The poet’s work holds a special place not only in Turkmen literature, but is also a world culture heritage. According to the participants of the event, gatherings of this kind serve as a vivid example of expanding cultural cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
During the cultural event, musical and literary compositions based on poems of Magtymguly Fragi were performed.
In the framework of the event, a flower-laying ceremony to the monument of Magtymguly Fragi located on the Tashkent’s Magtymguly Street was held.
