New York. A briefing on RECCA VII preparations was made on September 21, during the Second Senior Officials Meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process (HoA-IP) in 2017 chaired by H.E. Adela Raz, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation of Afghanistan and H.E. Mr. Araz Azimov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan in New York. The meeting included a keynote address by H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
The briefing on RECCA VII was made by Mr. Hassan Soroosh, Acting Director General of Economic Cooperation and included an overview of the preparations for RECCA VII including the ongoing preparation of the Annual Review 2017, the outcomes of the First RECCA National Focal Points Meeting as well as the outline of RECCA VII program.
Referring to the increasing number of participating countries and organizations which reached a record of 40 countries and 30 regional and international organizations in the RECCA VI (Kabul, September 3-4, 2015), the RECCA regional and partner countries and organizations were encouraged to participate in the RECCA VII at the highest level.
The participants welcomed the ongoing efforts to bring greater synergy and complementarities between RECCA and HoA-IP.
