On February 08, 2023, the meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan A.Movlamov with H.E. Mr. Raja Pervez Ashraf, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was held in the Parliament House, Islamabad.
Turkmen side informed the creation of a representative body of the people's power of the country - the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan. While appraising the bilateral intra-parliamentary relations, parties emphasized the significance of organizing visits and meetings to exchange mutual experiences.
Furthermore, Honorable Speaker was updated on the implementation of the projects of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline as well as power transmission and fiber-optic lines along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP).
Noting the high-level of political-diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries, Speaker expressed Pakistan’s commitment to the timely completion of TAPI, TAP projects, which are important for the economic development of Pakistan. Welcoming the productive meetings of the delegation led by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. M. Malik, during his visit to Turkmenistan in September 2022, urged the continuation of technical meetings for the early implementation of these projects.
Regarding regional connectivity, the Speaker underlined the need to enhance bilateral trade and investment and invited Turkmenistan to benefit the potential of Pakistan's Gwadar, Bin Qasim, and Karachi seaports.
