On September 6, 2023, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Portugal M.Charyev met with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Francisco Ribeiro Telles, during which copies of his credentials were presented.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Secretary General congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and assured that the Portuguese side would provide assistance and support in his diplomatic mission.
He stressed that Portugal is ready to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, and also expressed interest in active cooperation within the framework of international organizations. The trade and economic sphere has been singled out as one of the promising areas for cooperation.
The Ambassador, in turn, informed the interlocutor about the domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, the favorable investment climate in the country, calling on Portuguese companies to actively participate in investment projects.
The parties agreed to hold consultations between the Foreign ministries of the two countries in the near future to further intensify the political dialogue. The possibility of organizing a business forum with the participation of representatives of the business circles of Turkmenistan and Portugal was also considered.
The Foreign Ministry also hosted a meeting between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Deputy Head of the State Protocol Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal José Carlos Reis Arsenio.
During the meeting, the Ambassador was acquainted with the activities and structure of the Foreign Ministry of Portugal.
