A joint meeting of the 53rd Council of Heads of Communication Administrations of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) and the 24th meeting of the Coordination Council of the CIS member states on informatization attached to the RCC began its work on October 9, 2018 in Ashgabat, at the "Archabil” Hotel.
Turkmenistan aims to strengthen cooperation with the RCC member countries for the purpose of mutually beneficial partnership in the field of improving the work of information and communication systems in the country. The representative forum of this international structure held in Ashgabat will contribute to this strengthening.
The programs implemented in our country for the development of information and telecommunication technologies are widely focused on the priorities of the social and economic development of the Turkmen people. The implementation of such programs has already shown interest among representatives of other countries. The international finance organization of the Islamic Development Bank, located in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) has shown particular interest.
In the framework of the speeches of the heads of delegations, reports were also presented on new directions of development of information and communication technologies in the RCC member countries. Much attention was paid to the prospects of introducing 5G technology in the CIS countries, which has a significant impact on the development of the Internet throughout the world.
The meeting also discussed the development prospects of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the period up to 2022, the activities of the ITU Regional Office for the CIS region, the preparation of the RCC communications administrations for the World Radio communication Conference and the 2019 Radio communication Assembly, the implementation of the Universal Postal Union Regional Development Plan for 2017-2020 for the region of Europe and Central Asia, and the formation of a digital market of the RCC countries.
On October 10, 2018, the meeting continued its work, during which delegates provided reports on the activities of the RCC Postal Commission, the RCC Postal Operators Board, the Executive Committee and the results of the 2017 RCC Audit Commission's work and raised other relevant issues on the development of information and communication technologies in the world. The guests also visited the XI International Exhibition of Telecommunications, Telemetry, Information Technologies and Broadcasting Equipment “Turkmentel-2018”, held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
