On December 1, 2016 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Ebrahim Rahimpour, who arrived in the Turkmen capital on a working visit.
During the meeting, regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed. Herewith it was underlined the existence of high level of the political and diplomatic interaction between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the main characteristic of which is the regular and multi-level political dialogue.
The two sides also exchanged views on such priority issues of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation in the economic sphere as energy, transport and trade, noting that there is significant potential for its deepening and diversifying mutual trade turnover. It was stressed that the sides have accumulated considerable experience in mutually beneficial exchanges in all areas of cooperation, including between the state and public structures and business circles of the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the parties stressed the need to continue the established dialogue to further diversify the fruitful cooperation in the mutual interest.
