On the 5th of June 2019, a round table meeting named “The First Caspian Economic Forum: investment opportunities for the European Union in the Caspian region and Central Asia” that was dedicated to the First Caspian Economic Forum to be held on August 12, 2019 in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza" took place in Brussels. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium jointly with the European Institute of Asian Studies.
Secretary-general of the Energy Charter U.Rusnák, staff members of the Central Asia Department of the European External Action Service, European Institute of Asian Studies, heads and employees of various organizations of the European Union, embassies and diplomatic missions of Caspian and Central Asian countries located in Brussels, as well as the representatives and experts of the economic, financial and investment entities participated to the round table meeting.
The presence of vast natural resources in Turkmenistan was noted during the speeches and an exchange of views took place on the opportunities of carrying them to the European energy markets. Also, the vital role of Turkmenistan in transport and logistical ties on the regional and world levels, including the modern infrastructural constructions and the prospects of international cooperation in this sphere were observed.
Summarizing the session, the participants reiterated the importance of holding such meetings and events on regular basis which contain effective information on the opportunities of Turkmenistan and the region in general and provide for the exchange of views in this scope.
