On January 26, 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the talks were held with the World Bank delegation led by World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Ms. Lilia Burunciuc.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current state of relations, as well as outlined the areas for further cooperation. They discussed the reforms in order to improve the investment climate in Turkmenistan, a strategy to improve access to finance private enterprises and entrepreneurs, water management issues related to sustained economic growth and climate change. In addition, the parties have expressed an interest in the development of socio-economic cooperation, institutional training.
Expressing the commitment to international initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on sustainable transport and the expansion of regional interconnection, renewable energy and water diplomacy, representatives of the World Bank noted the important role of Turkmenistan in the international arena.
