On December 28, 2019, the briefing dedicated to the results of the chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea during the period of 2017-2019, as well as the First Caspian Economic Forum held on August 11-12 of current year in the National tourist zone “Avaza” was held in the MFA of Turkmenistan.
The representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, Institute of the Caspian Sea, Ambassadors of Turkmenistan accredited abroad, editors of the newspapers and magazines, representatives of the local and foreign mass media, students of the faculty of International Journalism of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The representatives of the MFA of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Executive Committee of International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea G.Bayjanov, Director of the Institute of the Caspian Sea M.Atajanov, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations A.Atayeva, as well as the Editor-in-chief of “Turkmenistan” newspaper K.Rejepov gave speeches at the briefing.
The participants were thoroughly informed about the results of the work of Turkmenistan in the framework of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, including the development of the “Action Program for Assisting the Aral Sea Basin Countries (ASBP-4)” and the Regional Plan of Action on Nature Protection. It was noted that under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan made a worthy input in the attainment of the main goal of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea – the improvement of the ecological and social-economic situation in the Aral Sea basin. Turkmenistan became a vital link in the process of further consolidation of the efforts of the world community, the vivid proof of which is the adoption of the corresponding resolutions during the sessions of the UN General Assembly that were initiated by Turkmenistan.
During the briefing, the participants were also informed about the vital role of the First Caspian Economic Forum which was held on August 11-12 of current year in the National tourist zone “Avaza” and opened a new stage of collaboration not only between the countries of the Caspian region, but also the whole Eurasian continent. It was underlined that the given Forum became an effective platform in strengthening trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation.
The special informational publications dedicated to the chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and the First Caspian Economic Forum were presented to the participants.
