On the 8th of June 2020, the opening ceremony of the new automobile bridge through the Tejen River at the “Sarahs-Sarahs” checkpoint near the Turkmen-Iranian border was held. The ceremonial opening was accompanied by the performances of the art workers of Turkmenistan.
On the occasion of the momentous event, in the second half of the day, a meeting between the high-ranking representatives of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran took place. The Turkmen side was headed by the Minister of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan, as well as the Governor (Hyakim) of the Ahal region. The delegation of Iran was led by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Governor of the Khorasan-e Razavi Province.
Noting the significance of the opening of the new automobile bridge in the context of further development of Turkmen-Iranian relations, the parties underlined the importance of intensification of cooperation in trade-economic, transport and other spheres. The participants of the meeting emphasized that the improvement of transport communication is very crucial in the current period, while such sort of actions are the result of coordinated work of relevant structures of both countries.
