On March 27, 2017, the second meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Slovenian Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat. The Slovenian part of the Commission was headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Karl Erjavec.
Heads and representatives of the branch ministries and departments, representatives of business circles of the two countries took part in the meeting. The agenda of the meeting included issues related to bilateral cooperation.
During the analysis of the current state of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Slovenia, the active dynamics of cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres was noted. Within the framework of the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the first Commission meeting on economic cooperation, which took place on January 26, 2015 in Ljubljana and the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Slovenia, which took place on May 13-14, 2015. Among the priority sectors of the partnership the sides marked areas of trade, communications, telecommunications, transport, air transportation, freight and agriculture and food industry. Noting the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan in the field of sports, the sides paid special attention to issues of cooperation in this direction.
Discussing the cultural and humanitarian component of the relationship, the parties expressed their commitment to developing cooperation in the field of tourism, science and education.
As a result of the negotiations, the minutes of the Commission meeting were signed and priority directions of the interstate dialogue for the forthcoming period were determined.
Within the framework of the Commission's work, a meeting was held between the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Slovenia. During the meeting it was stressed that due to mutual efforts, Turkmen-Slovenian relations are aimed at a consistent and dynamic build-up and access to new forms of cooperation in various directions.
