On April 27, 2017, political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Argentine Republic took place in Ashgabat. The delegation of Argentina was headed by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gustavo Rodolfo Zlauvinen.
Issues of mutual interest were on the agenda of bilateral political consultations. In particular, the sides discussed the possibilities of development of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, energy spheres, as well as the issues of building up cooperation in the field of infrastructure. The interest of the parties in the development of transport cooperation was noted. The sides discussed the issues of creating various transport routes. The parties expressed their commitment to cooperation in the fields of food safety and energy security, and put forward proposals for developing cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Discussing the political bloc, the Argentine side expressed its satisfaction with the peace-loving policy of Turkmenistan's positive neutrality. The parties agreed to further cooperation to determine concrete actions to expand interaction between the ministries of foreign affairs and branch structures, as well as between the parliaments of the two countries. They discussed the possibilities of coordinating joint efforts to organize meetings between the two heads of state, which will give impetus to the growth of mechanisms of bilateral interaction. At the end of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to raise the bilateral ties to a higher level, which meets the long-term interests of countries.
Then a ceremony of signing bilateral documents between Turkmenistan and the Argentine Republic took place. The following documents were signed: a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Argentine Republic; Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Argentine Republic on the exchange of information on tax issues.
Within the framework of the visit to Turkmenistan, the delegation of Argentina was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov. During the meeting, the sides paid attention to the development of relations in the political-diplomatic and trade-economic spheres, establishment of close contacts in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, in particular in the sphere of education, sport and tourism. Issues related to the possibility of establishing direct contacts and deepening cooperation between the business circles of the two countries through joint events were also discussed.
