On November 26, 2021, in Ashgabat the Business Forum of the States-Members of the Economic Cooperation Organization was held in the conference-hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
The Forum was attended by 40 representatives of the foreign countries, particularly, representatives of the ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry, UN Economic Commission for Europe, Asian Bank of Development, CCI of the ECO member-countries, The Turkish Union of the Chambers and Stock-exchanges, Turkish-Pakistani CCI, corresponding ministries, public organizations and various companies of the above-mentioned states. About 300 foreign representatives took part in the forum in an online format.
From Turkmen side 138 representatives participated to the Forum. They are: representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, Ministry of Textile Industry, Ministry of Energy and others, state concerns, transport and communications agencies, state banks, Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of the private sector of the country.
The Deputy Secretary General of the ECO Dr.Sayed Yahya Akhlaqi gave opening remarks.
The President of the CCI ECO, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture of the IRI, the Chairman of the CCI of Turkmenistan, and the Chairman of the UIE of the Kyrgyz Republic made speeches at the plenary session.
The Presidents of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, the Chair of the Board of the Chamber of Foreign Trade of Kazakhstan, the President of the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan, the Chairman of the CCI of Tajikistan, the President of the Turkish Union of the Chambers and Stock-exchanges and the President of the CCI of Uzbekistan made their presentations by videoconferencing.
After that, the Forum continued its work in two thematic sessions: “Cooperation in the field of trade and services, in customs services and taxation, digital trade and e-commerce in the region of the ECO” and “Development of industrial sector and transport-logistics services, investment opportunities in ECO region”.
Besides, the pre-arranged bilateral meetings were organized in a hybrid format in such sectors as oil and gas, chemistry, agriculture and food industry, textile industry and trade.
Within the framework of the forum the signing of bilateral documents was held. In particular, the Railway Authorities of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Iran signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the utilization of the railroad corridor “Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran” for the carriage of goods. Also, the representatives of the business circles signed 17 documents; according to the results of exchange trade 25 documents were signed.
