A meeting of the leaders of the national healthcare structure with Turkmen diplomats took place at the MFA of Turkmenistan

On December 21, 2021, a meeting of the heads of the healthcare structure of the country with the heads of the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan, accredited abroad took place at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

At the beginning of the meeting the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan S.Toilyev made opening remarks.

The Vice-Premier praised the ongoing comprehensive preventive measures undertaken by the Government of Turkmenistan to prevent the emergence and spread on the territory of the country of coronavirus and other dangerous infections. The importance of initiatives and proposals put forward by the President of Turkmenistan at various international platforms in the sphere of the health service was especially noted, confirming the focus of Turkmenistan on further development and strengthening of cooperation with the WHO and other reputable international structures.

Turkmenistan expands multilateral efforts with the UN specialized agencies and other international organizations and countries of the world, aimed at the deepening of partnership and fight against pandemic, overcoming its consequences and moving forward, S.Toilyev noted.

So, in her speech, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Organization, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary A.Atayeva drew the participants’ attention on the global decisions of the UN to counter the current pandemic. To promote coordinated international actions against COVID-19, resolutions were adopted in which UN bodies and agencies strongly reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism despite the emergency, she said.

In this connection, the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the Resolution entitled “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic”, which was initiated by Turkmenistan, deserves special attention. The Resolution once again underlines the need to take more efforts and to unite with the response in the face of an unprecedented threat to the health of the people all over the world, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN added.

Then there were the presentation by the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Japan, the Swiss Confederation, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Turkey.

The diplomats, focusing on the current epidemiological situation in the host countries, spoke about the forms of combating COVID-19 and minimizing its socio-economic and humanitarian consequences implemented at the state, regional and global level.

Also it was highlighted the significance of the systemic exchange of views and professional experience in the sphere of the healthcare by the leading experts and specialists of the partner-countries of Turkmenistan.

The speakers agreed to continue an active productive dialogue with the world community in the sphere of the health service and medicine for a comprehensive fight against threats and challenges to the health of humankind.
