On June 14, 2017 in Vienna, a conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Austria, which was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria in cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
Honorary guests of the celebrations dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries were representatives of Austrian ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Vienna, representatives of the Turkmen-Austrian community, representatives of the Austrian business community, the teaching staff of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, Turkmen students studying at universities in Austria, journalists of a number of printed and electronic publications.
The conference was addressed by the rector of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Hans Winkler, Head of the Department of Eastern and Southern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Austrian Foreign Ministry Katarina Vizer, Ambassador for special assignments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Sapar Berdiniyazov, Director General for International Economic Relations of the Federal Ministry of Economics, Science and Research of Austria Franz Vessig, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Austria, as well as the President of the Austrian-Turkmen Society Neda Berger.
In the speeches, the peace-loving neutral policy of Turkmenistan and Austria was highly appreciated, which helps to maintain good-neighborly relations with the world community. It was also stressed the importance of the UN General Assembly proclaiming December 12, as the International Neutrality Day.
The speakers spoke about the priorities of Turkmenistan and Austria in bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as the current level and prospects for cooperation between the two states, particularly in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
After the conference, a solemn concert of Turkmen musicians was held. At the end of the solemn event the guests were invited to a reception where they could taste and appreciate the national Turkmen cuisine.
