On July 12, 2022, the 8th meeting of the Subcommittee on Collaboration in the area of Security of the Turkmen-Chinese Committee for Cooperation was held via videoconference under the co-chair of the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
The parties reviewed the results of activities since the seventh meeting of the Subcommittee, held in June 2021, heard reports from members of the delegations - representatives of the law enforcement agencies. The current state of cooperation in the field of security was also discussed and promising areas of cooperation were outlined.
In his speech, the co-chair of the Subcommittee from the Turkmen side, V.Hajiyev, noted that Turkmenistan considers the partnership between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism as common contribution to the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
One of the topics discussed was the situation in Afghanistan. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan considers peacebuilding in this country in an integrated approach to solving political, economic, social and humanitarian issues. In this context, gratitude was expressed to the Chinese side for its active support of international initiatives aimed at establishing peace and sustainable development in Afghanistan.
In order to implement the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of ensuring international information security, signed on November 22, 2021, the Turkmen side proposed to hold consultations between relevant departments in the second half of 2022.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the Eighth meeting of the Subcommittee on Collaboration in the area of Security of the Turkmen-Chinese Cooperation Committee was signed.
