Turkmenistan and Georgia held talks on further strengthening mutually beneficial ties

On July 20, 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, who arrived in the Turkmen capital at the head of the delegation of his country.

As part of the exchange of views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, the interlocutors spoke in favor of deepening a constructive dialogue in all areas. As was noted, a reliable basis for bringing the Turkmen-Georgian partnership to qualitatively new frontiers was laid by the agreements reached in recent years at the highest level.

Noting that our countries have enough potential to deepen contacts in various areas of economic activity, the interlocutors stated the expediency of studying the possibilities of increasing the range of import-export goods. At the same time, emphasis was placed on the significant role of the Intergovernmental Commission, whose work is aimed at developing the most effective forms of interaction.

The prospects of forming a transport and transit corridor between the Caspian and Black Sea regions with access to the states of Europe and the Middle East were emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili expressed confidence in the further successful development of interstate relations across their entire spectrum and exchanged wishes for peace and prosperity to the peoples of the two friendly countries.

Negotiations were also held between the delegations of Turkmenistan and Georgia, during which priority issues of interaction in various sectors were touched upon.

Taking into account modern realities, the transport and communications sector was singled out among the main areas. In this context, the parties discussed the possibility of implementing joint projects to create a combined transport, transit and logistics infrastructure. As part of the exchange of views on the prospects for diversifying bilateral cooperation, the members of the delegations noted with satisfaction the effectiveness of interaction in the energy sector.

Confirming the readiness of Turkmenistan and Georgia to give the partnership dynamics and concrete content, the parties expressed confidence that traditional interstate relations would continue to develop successfully for the benefit of friendly peoples.

As a result of the talks, a number of bilateral documents were signed, which will give new impetus to the development of mutually beneficial ties.
