On November 11, 2017 in Great Britain at the Institute of Archeology of the "University College of London", the Embassy of Turkmenistan, together with the Association of Silk Road Researchers and the Faculty of Archeology of the above-mentioned university, organized an event entitled "Day of Central Asia", in which presentation of the book by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" and the official reception of the Embassy took place.
Representatives of the Turkmen diaspora of Great Britain, students and teachers of the "University College of London", “Brunel University of London”, “University of Oxford”, “Kings College”, “SOAS University of London”, “University of Wrocław” (Poland), “Shaanxi Normal University” (China) took part in the event.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Great Britain spoke at the event and noted that the book "Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road" is intended for a wide range of readers and is a good resource for researchers of the Central Asian region, which talks about the restoration of important historical routes and the place occupied by Turkmenistan in present time.
The head of the “Ancient Merv” project of the Institute of Archeology of the University College of London, Dr. Tim Williams at the beginning of the speech expressed his gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the excellent book and stressed that the book will be kept in the library of the University College of London and will be available to all interested students and teachers. Dr. Williams explained that the Institute of Archeology of the University College of London has been working closely with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan for several years to protect and study monuments.
Noting in his speech that under the leadership of the respected President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, people of Turkmenistan take seriously the issues of respect for ancient monuments, he expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the leadership of the University College of London to the President of Turkmenistan for the opportunities provided to improve international cooperation.
Teachers of the University College of London and University of Oxford also spoke at the presentation.
After the presentation, the official reception of the Embassy of Turkmenistan took place, during which invited guests were offered dishes of Turkmen national cuisine.
