New Delhi hosted seminar and release of the book “Turkmenistan – Heart of the Great Silk Road” by the President of Turkmenistan

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in India hosted release of the English translation of the book “Turkmenistan – Heart of the Great Silk Road” by the President of Turkmenistan and seminar in New Delhi.  The event devoted to the role of Turkmenistan’s modern transport and transit capabilities, which are considered to be not only continuation of the Great Silk Road but rather the development of relations between peoples and civilisations.

Representatives of the local diplomatic community in India, researchers and former as well as acting faculty members of some universities, in particular, Awardees of the International “Magtymguly Pyragy” Medal professors Mansura Haidar and Nirmala Joshi, journalists and Turkmen students were among select group of invitees.  

Professor Manu Mittal, president, “Silk Road Studies Programme” chaired the book release and seminar who said that this particular work of the Turkmen President brought to light the idea of strengthening of cultural and human to human contacts, friendship and mutual understanding between countries and peoples. One should look at the Great Silk Road, which connected many countries utilising commerce, information and cultural exchanges from the point of view of history and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan P.Durdyev stated in his remarks that the Great Silk Road played an important role in establishing of dialogue between great civilisations of the East and the West. Along the caravan routes not only goods were spread all over but rather exchange in knowledge, culture, spiritual values, discoveries and trades were the matters of the day.  Thus created an economic diplomacy became an instrument of achievement of mutual understanding and progress.

Other speakers on the dais also stressed upon that the National Leader’s new book gives an opportunity to offer unbiased review of the historic path of the Turkmen people, let the foreign readers find out the whole spectrum of traditional and cultural uniqueness, customs and livelihood habits, deeply evaluate its share in the global scientific, economic and cultural processes.

During the seminar the book “India and Turkmenistan – Cooperation for Peace and Development in the Silk Road Region” edited by Manu Mittal and Moni Agnihotri was also released. The book is an outcome of the one day International Conference and Cultural event devoted to the 20 Anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in India with participation of Indian and Turkmen artists and researchers and published by the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

The participants of the event were presented with the English translation of new book of the President of Turkmenistan and took part in screening of brief video highlighting the grand opening and closing ceremonies of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Games in Ashgabat.
