On November 22, 2017 the sixth Turkmen-Russian economic forum was held in Ashgabat for participation in which a representative delegation of the Russian Federation arrived in the capital of Turkmenistan.
The delegation includes representatives of a number of state institutions and organizations, as well as companies specializing in trade, food industry, construction, electronic information technologies, engineering, oil and gas and others. The Turkmen side was attended by the heads and specialists of the sectoral ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, representatives of enterprises and companies producing products oriented for export.
As the forum participants noted, the Turkmen-Russian partnership is of a strategic nature. This is confirmed by regular bilateral meetings and top-level talks, including in the framework of major international events. Priority attention is paid to the implementation of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Economic Cooperation Program for 2017-2019, and projects in the fields of trade, industry, energy and engineering, construction, agriculture and fisheries, transport, sports, tourism, health.
In the context of further development of bilateral trade and economic ties, an important role is assigned to the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, under the auspices of which the High-Level Group on Trade and Investment Promotion operates.
The expansion of bilateral ties with the regions and major industrial and cultural centers of the Russian Federation is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy. It is no coincidence that representatives of 8 Russian regions take part in this forum.
Appreciating the successful nature of the Turkmen-Russian relations, the forum participants emphasized that the current meeting is yet another confirmation of the mutual desire to strengthen and build up a mutually beneficial partnership in key areas of multifaceted cooperation.
During the forum, a video was shown about the economic achievements of Turkmenistan - a country with a dynamically growing economy attractive for foreign investment.
A more detailed discussion of the opportunities for Russian companies to participate in the implementation of large-scale projects took place during bilateral meetings.
Thus, the forum was yet another confirmation of the fact that Turkmen-Russian relations, based on historically established ties, are at a high level and fully correspond to the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding that meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
