On the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality and the 10th anniversary of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, on December 8-10, 2017, mini-football, volleyball and table tennis tournaments were held among diplomatic missions of foreign countries and missions of international organizations in Ashgabat with the participation of the teams of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
In the mini-football tournament that took place in the sports complexes "Galkynysh" and "Turkmenistan", 10 teams took part, including the United Nations team, the Embassies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the United States, the Republic of Tajikistan, Ukraine, the United team of the State of Qatar and the OSCE, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The first place was won by the team of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the second place - by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan; the third place was given to the team of the US Embassy.
The winner of the mini-football tournament was awarded the Cup of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and gold medals to the players. Those who took the second and third places in the tournament, teams of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States, respectively, silver and bronze medals. Separately, valuable prizes were awarded to the best goalkeeper and best striker. During the tournament, a friendly match of Ambassadors with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan was also organized.
The team of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia took the first place in the volleyball competition held in the sports complex of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the team of the Embassy of the Russian Federation received the second place and the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the third place.
In the table tennis tournament organized in the sports complex of the International University for the Humanities and Development, a representative of the US Embassy won the first place, in the second place was a representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the third place was taken by the representative of the Embassy of the Turkish Republic.
All participants of the tournaments were awarded with relevant valuable prizes of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia. The teams and participants who won prizes were also awarded with the Honorary Diplomas of the State Sports Committee of Turkmenistan.
