The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Saudi Arabia held a briefing

On February 28, 2018, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Saudi Arabia held a briefing devoted to the successes and achievements of independent Turkmenistan in the foreign policy sphere, the activities of Turkmen diplomacy on the implementation of constructive initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the development of international cooperation, general stability and sustainable development.

Among the guests of the briefing were representatives of the Center for Islamic Research named after King Faisal, Center for Research and International Knowledge, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Riyadh, the Humanitarian Association of World Turkmens, the Turkmen Diaspora in Saudi Arabia, public organizations, the media.

As it was noted during the briefing, Turkmenistan, realizing its neutral status and the policy of "open doors", actively implements large-scale projects in the field of sustainable energy and transport, nature protection and ecology, health and sports. Interacting with major international organizations and, above all, with the UN, Turkmenistan has achieved great success in building a lasting peace in the region, becoming the author of a number of international initiatives supported by the world community.

A striking example of positive interaction between Turkmenistan and the United Nations was the nomination and support of the community of Nations initiatives of Turkmenistan to ensure water and energy security, stability and peace in Afghanistan, assistance to refugees, support for the implementation of the UN antiterrorist strategy.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan was recently elected a member of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee (UNECE) Bureau for the period 2019-2020 at the UN Office in Geneva (Switzerland) during the jubilee 80th session of the Inland Transport Committee of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The participants of the briefing familiarized with the materials devoted to the start of the construction of the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the laying of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication lines on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route and the commissioning of the Serhetabat -Turgundi railway.

At the end of the briefing, all of its participants were distributed thematic information leaflets.
