On March 20, 2018, a scientific and practical conference "Diplomacy of Neutral Turkmenistan: From History to the Future" was held in Ashgabat, timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
In the morning an exhibition opened in the foyer of the main building of the Institute, dedicated to the history of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Academy of Sciences, teachers and students of higher educational institutions of the country, Turkmen diplomats, heads of diplomatic missions and missions accredited in Turkmenistan, representatives of public organizations of our country, representatives of the media.
Then the guests visited the museum of the Institute of International Relations. The delegates and guests of the conference got acquainted with the exhibition exposition, which demonstrates the history of the institute and its achievements for 10 years.
At the beginning of the conference the congratulatory address of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed to the participants of the scientific and practical conference was read. It emphasized the role of education in the country and the hopes placed on students of the country.
Speakers at the conference, noting the role of the diplomatic service in strengthening and developing foreign policy activities, in achieving a high international authority and occupying a significant position of independent neutral Turkmenistan in the international system of coordinates, noted the need for training relevant personnel. The participants of the conference were unanimous in their opinion that the diplomatic service of Turkmenistan will continue to orient its activities towards peace, security, sustainable development and steadily expand international cooperation.
At the end of the conference, participants adopted an address of thankfulness to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, expressing deep gratitude for constant attention to the issues of the country's diplomatic service.
