On March 27, 2018, a Turkmen-Iranian business forum was held in Ashgabat, timed to coincide with the official visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani to Turkmenistan was held. The main theme of the next meeting of representatives of business circles of the two countries was the concretization of promising areas of trade and economic cooperation, taking into account national development plans and regional cooperation.
As part of the delegation that arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the forum - leaders and leading experts of government agencies, business support organizations, as well as over thirty companies specializing in the production of building materials, pipes, cables, polyethylene, agricultural machinery, cement, plastic products, in textile industry, energy, mining and pharmaceutical industry, trade, construction, in various types of services, including engineering, communications, transport and logistics, in the region and insurance. Representatives of leading ministries and departments, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan took part in the meeting from the Turkmen side.
Opening the forum, the heads of the delegations of the two countries noted the dynamic nature of cooperation based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good-neighborliness, historical and cultural ties. This partnership meets mutual interests, the goals of prosperity and prosperity of the whole region, stressed the gathered.
The speakers noted with satisfaction the results of the talks held at the highest level between the Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Hassan Rouhani, which will be another significant step towards the expansion of interstate dialogue and will further strengthen mutual understanding between our peoples.
Noting the impressive potential for intensification of fruitful cooperation, Mohammad Shariatmadari, Minister of industry, mines and trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran, other representatives of the delegation of the friendly country stressed that the mutual desire of the parties is designed to ensure its effective implementation.
In the presentations of the Turkmen side it was noted that the key aspect of the foreign policy strategy of our country, implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, is the strengthening of partnership with the interested states of the world on the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and healthy pragmatism. The most important direction of development of the national economy is the course of industrialization of the country, providing for the formation of modern transport and industrial infrastructure, the creation of large processing industries of innovative orientation. To this end, huge investments are made in the construction of new enterprises and the reconstruction of existing ones, the introduction of advanced technologies and management methods in all sectors, and the gradual transition to market relations.
In turn, the representatives of the delegation of the neighboring country acquainted the audience with the General trends of economic development of Iran. Appreciating the open and attractive investment policy pursued under the leadership of the head of Turkmenistan, the guests expressed their high interest in intensification of productive ties. Expressing their readiness to take an active part in the implementation of large-scale national projects, the representatives of Iranian companies made concrete proposals to expand cooperation in various fields.
Finally, once again noting the dynamic nature of bilateral relations based on the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit, the participants stressed the importance of holding such meetings on a regular basis in order to develop approaches to the formation of a unified platform for further effective interaction.
Within the framework of the forum, meetings were held between representatives of the departments and business circles of the two neighboring countries, the actual tasks formulated by the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran during the talks, as well as topics for the development of new joint projects were discussed.
