On 09 to 11 November 2016, the Turkmen delegation visited Brussels on a working visit to attend the 16th regular meeting of the Joint "Turkmenistan-EU" Committee under the Agreement on cooperation and trade.
The EU delegation was headed by Mr. Luc Devin, Head of the Directorate for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE at the European External Action Service (EEAS) with the participation of representatives of the EEAS, DG Trade, International Cooperation and Development, the Office of the EU Special Representative for Central Asia.
During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union. In particular, they discussed issues such as the macroeconomic situation in Turkmenistan, constitutional and social reforms in Turkmenistan and the implementation of technical projects and programs of the EU in Turkmenistan, energy projects, the possibility of diversification of gas supplies from Turkmenistan to Europe, the security of the EU projects "CADAP" and "BOMCA".
After the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold the next 17th meeting of the Joint Committee "Turkmenistan - European Union" in Ashgabat in 2017.
