On October 7, 2016 at the office of the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan in New York there was a signing ceremony of the Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
During the signing ceremony, the Permanent Representatives of Turkmenistan and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas confirmed their interest in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and the development of bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation.
The sides exchanged the views regarding the issues of establishing the mutually beneficial bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in the political sphere by maintaining regular contacts between the two foreign ministries. Also the parties noted the role of interaction within the frames of international organizations.
