On May 30, 2018, the two-day OSCE Regional Ministerial Conference "Good governance and economic connectivity - best practices within the OSCE region" began its work in the capital hotel "Yildiz". The conference was organized under the auspices of the OSCE and the Government of Turkmenistan. The plenary session and two working sessions had been held on the first day of the conference.
The forum was attended by representatives and experts of the OSCE participating States and a number of international organizations, including UN specialized agencies, representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, representatives of the diplomatic corps of foreign countries accredited in our country, scientists, rectors and the faculty of higher education institutions, heads of public organizations and representatives of the media.
Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat Ambassador Natalia Drozd, Coordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities Ambassador Vuk Zugic, Chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan H.Gurbanov, Minister of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan M.Mustafa, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mrs. G.Jabborzada, Ambassador Florian Raunig, Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria, Ambassador Claude Wild, Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the OSCE and to the UN Office and other international organizations in Vienna; Ambassador of Italy to Turkmenistan Diego Ungaro, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan Alexander Blokhin, and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Ambassador Natalia Gherman made their presentations at the plenary session.
During the working sessions, discussions and exchanges were held on issues such as good governance as a factor of economic growth and connectivity, the digitalization of the economy as a stimulus to connectivity, the implications of using the digital economy for security, the impact of good governance on creating a favorable business and investment climate.
On May 31, the OSCE Regional Ministerial Conference "Good Governance and Economic Connectivity - Best Practices within the OSCE Region" will continue its work.
