On June 7, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Colombia to Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow) Mr. Alfonso Lopez Caballero, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to present his credentials.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment to the responsible post in the development of Turkmen-Colombian relations, the Turkmen side noted the great attention paid by the country to the strengthening and further development of relations with Colombia. In turn, Ambassador Lopez expressed Colombia's interest in expanding cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, in particular, with Turkmenistan.
During the talks, the sides noted the commitment of the parties to the development of a bilateral constructive dialogue in the international arena, including within the framework of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. In addition, the possibilities of joint opposition to the general problems and threats of the present were considered. Having determined the priority directions for further cooperation, the meeting participants noted the importance of holding political consultations between the foreign affairs ministries of Turkmenistan and Colombia.
