The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the 27th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which was held on July 7-11, 2018 in Berlin.
The annual session of the OSCE PA in 2018 was held in the German Bundestag under the theme "Implementation of OSCE commitments: the role of parliaments". More than 300 parliamentarians from 53 OSCE participating States, dozens of international organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the FRG took part in the event.
At the meeting, reports were delivered by the President of the Bundestag of Germany Wolfgang Schäuble, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly George Tsereteli, Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance of Germany Olaf Scholz and Guglielmo Pichi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, representing the Italian Chairmanship in the OSCE.
The session traditionally took place in the framework of plenary sessions and meetings of three committees: 1) on political issues and security; 2) on economic issues; science, technology and the environment; and 3) democracy, human rights and humanitarian issues. The issues discussed in the committees were included in the text of the final resolution of the session, which was adopted at the final plenary session.
On the sidelines of this session, parliamentarians of Turkmenistan also participated in additional events and meetings of various groups.
