On July 30, 2018, the third meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation was held in Ashgabat in the premises of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
The commission was attended by the heads and representatives of the leading ministries, departments and private entities of the two states. The chairman of the Kyrgyz part of the commission was the Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic O.M.Pankratov.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties reviewed the implementation of the decisions of the second meeting of the commission, held in August 2016, in Bishkek, and noted that relevant ministries and departments of the two countries have done a great deal of job for the implementation of these decisions.
During the talks, issues of developing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation were considered. In this regard, the parties analyzed the opportunities for trade and noted the need to assist the private sector of the two countries in setting up joint ventures and implementing projects in various sectors of the economy. The sides also discussed the priority areas of cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture and transport.
The parties noted the need to deepen relations in the field of culture, tourism, youth policy, physical culture and sports.
Following the meeting of the third Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz commission for trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation a Protocol was signed and priority areas for cooperation for the forthcoming period were identified.
