On October 3, 2016 the Embassy of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia with the assistance of the country's main university - the Yerevan State University, held a scientific conference “Turkmenistan - 25 years of prosperity and sustainable development", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan.
Heads and diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, heads of diplomatic missions, accredited in Armenia took part in the scientific conference. Among the participants of the Conference were also the representatives of non-governmental organizations of the country, mass media representatives, representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, heads and professors from different higher educational institutions and universities of the country, the professors and the students of the Yerevan State University.
The rector of the Yerevan State University A.Simonyan has made the opening speech. Ambassador of Turkmenistan M.Mashalov, the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Armenia Sh.Qocharyan, Ambassador A.Grigoryan, the teacher of the Turkmen State University G.Hamrayev, professor of the YSU A.Safaryan had delivered speeches on the conference.
The speeches were mainly about the gaining of independence, the tremendous work that has been done throughout the 25 years of independent existence, the main stages of the implementation of Turkmenistan's foreign policy over this period, as well as on the progress of implementation of the country's plans to develop cooperation with different countries. The speakers particularly dwelled on the friendly and fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Armenia.
Furthermore, the adoption of the Constitutional Law on Approval of the new edition of the Constitution of Turkmenistan at the September session of the Council of Elders has been mentioned, which was aimed at the further improvement of political system, stage-by-stage democratization of the state and society, in particular, envisaging political diversity and multiparty system.
It was also pointed, that the UN Global Conference of Sustainable Transport suggested by the UN Secretary General and supported by the UN General Assembly is going to be held in Ashgabat in the end of this year, and it is expected that many top level officials from all the UN member countries, including Armenia, will take part in this important event.
At the end of the Conference an interesting discussion on the main theme of the conference has taken place. After the conference the guests were treated by Turkmen national sweets and dishes.
