On May 20, 2024, the US National Postal Museum hosted a presentation of postage stamps dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and classical poet Magtymguly Fragi, issued by the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the USA.
The ceremony was attended by Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Ch.Rustemova, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the USA M.Orazov, Executive Director of the Business Council E.Stewart, Director of the National Postal Museum E.Gruber, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia J.Pommersheim, White House Director for Central Asian Affairs B.Todd, employees of foreign embassies accredited in the United States, as well as representatives of scientific, educational, cultural institutions and American companies.
During the event, it was noted that the release of a postage stamp dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi and the ceremonies held on this occasion will be of great importance in popularizing the poet’s work not only in the USA, but also abroad.
During the event, an exhibition of manuscripts of Magtymguly Fragi, stored in the fund of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, exhibits of the State Museum of the State Center of Culture, works of art of the State Academy of Arts, was launched.
On May 21, 2024, a creative evening dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States, together with the library and the Smithsonian Institution of the United States, took place in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the US Library of Congress. The event was attended by leaders and representatives of the delegation of Turkmenistan, the South and Central Asia Division of the US State Department, the White House, the Smithsonian Institution, the US Library of Congress, diplomatic missions accredited in the US and scientific institutions.
During the event, representatives of the delegation of Turkmenistan presented the book of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Anau - culture from the depths of millennia” to the Library of Congress of the United States. In addition, an excursion to the Library of the US Congress was organized for the delegation of Turkmenistan.
On the same day, in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States, a presentation of the books of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Youth - the support of the Motherland” and “Anau - culture from the depths of millennia”, as well as a new collection of poems by the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly-Fragi, was held.
