On April 15, 2020, the successive meeting of the Governmental Commission for studying the issues, connected with the membership of Turkmenistan in the World Trade Organization was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan was attended by the representatives of relevant ministries and state bodies of the country.
During the meeting, the participants considered a number of priority issues pertaining to the continuation of work on intensifying the cooperation of Turkmenistan with the WTO and further strengthening of bilateral partnership with the given entity. Based on the subject matter, the parties listened to the report of the Commission on the work accomplished in 2019 and discussed the issue of accelerating the process of assigning to Turkmenistan the status of observer in the WTO.
In addition, in the framework of the meeting, the participants got acquainted with the Review on trade-economic policy of Turkmenistan prepared according to the guidelines of the World Trade Organization.
As is known, the composition of the Governmental Commission for studying the issues, connected with the membership of Turkmenistan in the World Trade Organization was established by Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan dated July 15, 2019.
