On December 11, 2017, a meeting with the Director of the Political Department of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Scott Seward Smith was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties drew attention to the importance of regional cooperation and the adoption of practical steps to implement vital projects on the territory of Afghanistan in the field of energy, transport and communications. Methods of multilateral cooperation in security issues, ensuring stability and peaceful settlement of conflicts in Afghanistan were also considered.
At the end of the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of regional and interregional infrastructure projects, as well as the strengthening of cooperation through a systematic channel for the exchange of knowledge and information.
