On April 5-6, 2018, an interim ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned Movement on the topic "Promotion of international peace and security for the sake of sustainable development" was held in Baku. On April 3-4, 2018, in order to prepare for the ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, a senior officials meeting had been held.
The ministerial conference was attended by representatives of about 120 states and a number of international organizations that are members of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as having observer status in this structure, delegates from countries and organizations invited as special guests in general, more than 800 people.
The delegation of Turkmenistan arrived in Baku to take part in the meeting of senior officials and the ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
At the end of the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Final Declaration was adopted. In the "Afghanistan" section of this declaration, Turkmenistan's initiatives on the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects in the transport and energy sectors were reflected. In particular, the participants of the Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement welcomed the ongoing progress in the implementation of these initiatives, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the “Lapis-Lazuli” Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey transit-transport project, trade and transport route and the railway segment Turkmenistan-Akina (Afghanistan).
120 states participate in the Non-Aligned Movement, which plays an important role in ensuring international peace and security. 17 states and 10 international organizations have observer status in the Non-Aligned Movement.
