Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Turkmenistan under the Paris Agreement approved by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan.
NDC defines targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 in a certain amount relative to the level of emissions in 2010, strengthening adaptive capacity, increasing resilience and reducing vulnerability to climate change.
This document is based on key national strategic documents and programs, including the National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2052, the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on Climate Change (as revised in 2019), the National Strategy for the Development of Renewable Energy in Turkmenistan until 2030, State Program for Energy Saving for 2018–2024.
Determining the NDC shows the firm commitment of Turkmenistan to the practical implementation of the goals of the Paris Agreement to contain the increase in global average temperatures, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
It should be noted that each party to the Paris Agreement is required to prepare and accept a Nationally Determined Contribution and update it every five years.
