On 22 May Ministers of Health of the Central Asian countries and Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization, Dr. Hans Kluge held a meeting at the office of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations in Geneva.
From the countries of Central Asia, the meeting was attended by Dr.Azhara Giniyat, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr.Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr.Jamshid Khamidov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr. Atageldi Germanov, Deputy Minister of Health and medical industry of Turkmenistan and Mr. Askar Mirsaidov, representative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UN.
During the meeting, high-ranking officials discussed the development and implementation of the Roadmap to support health and well-being in Central Asia (2022–2025), the results of 30 years of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the World Health Organization, the development and promotion of the One Health concept in Central Asian region, as well as regional initiatives of the countries of Central Asia in the field of health.
Dr. Hans Kluge emphasized the support for Central Asia as a priority region, including in the joint development and implementation of the above-mentioned Roadmap. The roadmap will be aimed at consolidating joint efforts to strengthen health care systems in Central Asian countries and increase their efficiency.
