On June 6, 2022, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mr.Rashid Meredov had a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group Ms. Amina Jane Mohammed.
During the meeting, the parties stressed the strategic character of the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of consolidating efforts in the implementation of the 2030 Development Agenda and the national development goals in Turkmenistan.
Minister noted that Turkmenistan is carrying out systematic work to intensify multilateral efforts to strengthen international transport systems in emergencies.
R. Meredov also noted that Turkmenistan supports the holding of the 2022 Transforming Education Summit in New York during the high-level week of the seventy-seventh session of the UN General Assembly. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan is working to improve the national education system and ensure equal access to quality education and plans to start national consultations in the near future in preparation for this Summit.
In addition, the parties discussed environmental protection issues and the implementation of the National Strategy on climate change. In this regard, it was stated that Turkmenistan is an active participant in the global climate activities, in particular, country takes part in the global campaign initiated by the UNECE "Trees in Cities".
