On November 9, 2023, a delegation led by the Deputy Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan took part in the 12th meeting of the Assembly of Parties of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).
Representatives of the participating countries, as well as international organizations, took part in the multilateral meeting. During the meeting, the activities of IACA, issues of preventing corruption, work on the implementation of international standards in this area and the tasks on the agenda in this area were discussed. The Academy’s budget for 2024 was also approved.
The delegation of Turkmenistan in its speech emphasized the great importance attached by the Turkmen side to the issues of cooperation with the states of the world and international organizations in joint activities in the fight against threats to peaceful life and prosperity. It was noted that corruption is one of the challenges and threats to sustainable development and, in order to completely eradicate this phenomenon, the whole world pays great attention to country practice and joint international interaction
As is known, Turkmenistan in this regard is a party to a number of multilateral documents, including the UN Convention against Corruption. In this regard, it was noted that effective experience has been achieved at the state level in preventing corruption, eradicating it and ensuring the implementation of the provisions of this Convention. Among them are the adoption of the Anti-Corruption Law of Turkmenistan, the approval of the National Action Program to Combat Corruption and the Plan for its implementation for 2020-2024.
As part of participation in the 12th meeting of the IACA Assembly, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the leadership of the International Anti-Corruption Academy, during which they exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation of Turkmenistan as a new member of the Academy in areas of mutual interest.
