On November 14, 2023, at the IAEA headquarters Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Austria H.Amannazarov presented to the Director General of the Agency R.Grossi instruments on Turkmenistan’s accession to the Convention on early notification of a nuclear accident, as well as the Convention on assistance in the case of a nuclear accident or radiological emergency.
In the framework of the negotiations a positive assessment was given to the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IAEA. There was also an exchange of views on upcoming tasks in relevant areas of cooperation.
The accession of Turkmenistan to the above Conventions was approved by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan in October 2023. The conventions enter into force for Turkmenistan 30 days after the delivery of instruments of accession.
