During the period December 2-6, 2023, the 5th World Media Summit is being held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, in which the delegation of Turkmenistan, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State news agency of Turkmenistan and the Media-Turkmen news agency, takes part.
On December 3, 2023, at the official opening of the Forum, which is held under the motto “Strengthening trust in the world, promoting media development”, the CEO of Xinhua, the deputy head of the propaganda department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the governor of Guangdong Province, and the mayor of Guangzhou spoke. Also addressing the audience were the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Global Communications, the president of the Japanese news agency Kyodo News, the head of Reuters, as well as the heads of People's Daily, Associated Press, Agence France-Presse and other speakers.
Following the Plenary meeting, the Joint Statement of the 5th World Media Summit was published.
On December 4, 2023, at the Forum, participants discussed the following topics: “Building trust: the role of the media in promoting human development and security”, “Embracing change: the media’s response to new technological opportunities and challenges”, “Pioneering innovation: new media markets in the digital age technology" and "In Search of Growth: Global Media Collaboration for a Better Future" to explore how the media industry can address global challenges.
In their speeches, the event participants called on global media organizations to strengthen cooperation, promote the overall development of the global media industry and promote mutual understanding and communication between countries and peoples with different historical backgrounds, cultural traditions and levels of development, in order to ensure greater stability and bring positive energy to our changing world.
