On December 15, 2023, a gala concert dedicated to the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY was held at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.
About 70 artists from 7 countries took part in the concert, which attracted more than 1,500 spectators.
The event was organized by the Permanent Delegations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Republic of Türkiye and Uzbekistan to UNESCO with the assistance of the TURKSOY Organization.
The concert was attended by Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Sait Yusuf, President of the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO Simona-Mirela Miculescu, Deputy Director General of UNESCO for External Relations Anthony Kwaku Ohemeng-Boama, Secretary General of the UTC Kubanychbek Omuraliev, as well as ambassadors, permanent representatives and representatives of member states of TURKSOY at UNESCO.
The festive event, which included performances of Turkic melodies and folk songs from Central Asia to Anatolia, as well as local dances of the Turkic world by artists from different countries of the region, dressed in colorful traditional clothes, was highly appreciated by the audience.
Turkmen artists performed the national dance of our country “Kushtdepdi”.
The Turkmen national dance, which has become a distinctive feature of our national culture and whose roots go back thousands of years, perfectly illustrates how ancient traditions are reflected in modern art.
The Turkmen national art of singing and dancing “Kushtdepdi” was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during the 12th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held on December 7, 2017 in Jeju, Republic of Korea.
