Nigeria signs the International Energy Charter

On March 7, 2017, at the Abuja State House, at a high-level ceremony chaired by Vice-President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Abubakar Malami, Nigeria signed the International Energy Charter.

The text of the document was signed by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu in the presence of the Ambassador of the Netherlands, taking into account the fact that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is the depositary country of the International Energy Charter.

         The Secretary-General of the Energy Charter, Dr. Urban Rusnak, who spoke on behalf of the Turkmen presidency, expressed deep gratitude to the Nigerian authorities, representatives of the country and international organizations for the contribution and success of the signing ceremony, a new milestone in the Energy Charter process.
