On January 31, 2024, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia M.Ayazov and the Deputy Minister of education, science, culture and sports of the Republic of Armenia K.Giloyan.
During the meeting, attention was paid to issues of cooperation in the field of sports within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between government departments responsible for sports.
Karen Giloyan informed the Ambassador that the city of Gyumri has been declared the sports capital of the CIS countries in 2024, which will also host a conference of the Council on physical culture and sports of the CIS countries, in connection with which the Deputy Minister was elected head of the Council on physical culture and sports of the CIS countries.
Ambassador M.Ayazov, in turn, said that Turkmenistan is constantly the venue for major international sporting events and thanked K.Giloyan for the active participation of athletes from Armenia.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue the participation of athletes from the two countries in sports and educational events.
