On February 16, 2024, a solemn welcome was held for the first regular passenger flight of Türkmenhowaýollary Airlines on the Ashgabat-Jeddah route, which arrived at the Hajj and Umrah terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
Deputy Head of the Turkmenhowayollary Agency N. Kakabaev and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia O. Charyev took part in the ceremony on behalf of the Turkmen side.
From the Saudi side, the historical and solemn event was attended by the Advisor on Management and Executive Projects to the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sulaiman Al-Bassam, the General Director of Jeddah International Airport Mazen Johar and service employees responsible for security and public relations in the international King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah.
As part of the event, Ambassador O. Charyev met with official representatives of the Saudi Arabian Civil Aviation Authority who took part in the event.
During the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed confidence that this regular passenger transportation route, which will serve as a bridge of friendship between the two countries, will become a significant incentive for expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, economics and tourism.
