On February 20, 2024, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia Muhammetgeldy Ayazov gave a lecture to students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University on the topic “The philosophical heritage of Magtymguly is the basis of the external doctrine of Turkmenistan,” dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi, as well as the motto of 2024 “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi”
During the speech, it was noted that the conceptual foundations of the current foreign policy of Turkmenistan are characterized as a manifestation of the high ideals that Magtymguly Fragi once preached. Along with this, the current foreign policy of Turkmenistan is a continuation of its ideas, which formed the basis of the content of the neutrality of the Turkmen state and continue to be a source of wisdom, succession and, at the same time, innovation and relevance of the political and diplomatic line of Turkmenistan.
At the lecture, information was also presented that in his poems the classic poet calls on all generations of humanity to unity, brotherhood, reverence for national customs, traditions and spiritual values, as well as to be humane, patriotic and fair.
M.Ayazov, revealing the topic of Turkmen-Armenian cultural and literary ties, noted that the works of Armenian writers and poets, as well as articles by Armenian authors translated into Turkmen language are periodically published in various literary publications and magazines of Turkmenistan.
At the end of the event, Armenian turkologists recited Magtymguly Fragi’s poems in Armenian, and students received postcards with translations of the Turkmen classic’s poems into Armenian.
